Our Approach

At Press Paws Dog Training, we understand that dogs, like people, are wonderfully unique beings. That's why we reject the notion of a one-size-fits-all approach. We recognize that each dog is motivated by different incentives, whether it's food, toys, or praise, and that what works for one may not work for another. Similarly, individuals have varying sensitivities to different tools and techniques.

That's why we adhere to the LIMA model: Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive. Our training methods are firmly grounded in science, emphasizing positive reinforcement to foster a supportive and effective learning environment. By utilizing techniques that prioritize the well-being and comfort of your pet, we aim to make the training experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

At Press Paws, we tailor our programs to suit the specific needs and preferences of each dog and handler duo. By customizing our approach, we ensure that every step of the training journey is engaging and rewarding, keeping tails wagging and spirits high. Our ultimate objective is not only to achieve your training goals but also to cultivate and strengthen the bond between you and your canine companion.

With Press Paws Dog Training, embark on a journey of personalized learning, mutual understanding, and joyful companionship. Let's work together to unlock the full potential of your partnership with your beloved furry friend.

Meet Mackenzie Dancey,

a passionate dog enthusiast with over nine years of experience in the world of canine care and training. Since 2015, Mackenzie has immersed herself in various roles within the dog industry, ranging from dog walking and daycare to hands-on rescue work.

It all started with a serendipitous encounter with Jack, Mackenzie's beloved four-legged companion, who entered her life as a stray during her first job with dogs. Jack's journey became Mackenzie's initial foray into the intricate realm of training, particularly in managing his dog reactivity. Determined to find solutions amidst the plethora of conflicting online advice, Mackenzie embarked on a self-taught journey, experimenting with different tools and techniques until finding what clicked for Jack. This invaluable experience laid the foundation for Mackenzie's mission: to simplify the training process for fellow dog owners navigating similar challenges.

During her two-year tenure in rescue as a dedicated dog handler, Mackenzie honed her skills in leash manners, obedience, and addressing reactivity issues. Witnessing the cognitive gears turn in dogs' minds as they decipher commands brings Mackenzie immense joy, especially during those pivotal breakthrough moments with reactive pups.

In June 2023, Mackenzie further solidified her expertise by graduating from the Dog Trainer Academy hosted by Canine Foundations at Georgian College. Armed with a wealth of practical experience and formal education, Mackenzie is dedicated to empowering dog owners with the knowledge and tools needed to foster harmonious relationships with their furry companions.

With Mackenzie as your guide, embark on a journey of discovery, understanding, and transformation in the enchanting world of dog training
